Joe Butler Sr., was born the son of the late Mr. James Butler and Mrs. Rosa Lee Butler in Hampton County, South Carolina, July 4, 1949. At an early age he joined Huspah Missionary Baptist Church and was a  1967 graduate of the former North District Training School,Varnville, South Carolina.
 
Joe was a United States Army Veteran ,employed with Westinghouse (Nevamar), Hampton, South Carolina, and Malphrus Construction, Hilton Head, South Carolina.   

He was married to the former Ms. Betty Johnson, and this union was blessed with two children.Joe is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings: Eva Youmans, Dorothy Butler, James Butler, Jr.,and a stepson: Derrick Johnson.

Our heavenly father called him  to rest September 9, 2017 at Trident Medical Center, North Charleston,South Carolina.

Survivors include a devoted Daughter,Tomicka Butler, Hampton SC; son, Joe L. (Sada)ButlerJr., Columbia,SC, stepdaughter; Jerenea Johnson, stepson; Micheal (Valerie)Johnson, both of  Greenville,SC; four Sisters; Birdie Wyman, New Jersey, Lillie (Cornelius)Jackson,Brooklyn,NY, Floria (Charles)Williams,and Doreen Butler, both of Hampton South Carolina ,Brother; Albert(Mary) Butler, Hampton South Carolina ;12 grandchildren and one great grandchild a host pof nieces ,including a special niece, Rashidah Grant, nephews, cousins, and caring friends, including a special friend Mr. Nathaniel Smith Hampton South Carolina.
