AUGUSTA GA- Mildred Louise Morgan Risby was born in Hampton, South Carolina to John and Nella Morgan who predeceased her in death. She was baptized at Huspah Baptist Church in Hampton, South Carolina, her first church home. At an early age she and her family moved to the Bronx ,New York, and lived there until she moved to Augusta, Georgia in 2006.

She departed this life on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Dr’s Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.

Mildred was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, New York City for many years. She eventually moved her membership to  Bethellite Community Baptist Church where she was baptized again, sang in the choir and later became the church clerk. She loved the Lord, and through all of her trials and tribulations knew the Lord would love and always be with her. Mildred loved children, kept goodies in her purse, and  would  to give  to them  as they flocked around her after church. They knew she had goodies waiting just  to give them out.

Mildred was employed by the New York City Housing Authority for more than 30 years. She was promoted up the ranks to Administrative Manager. After her retirement, she was able to spend more quality time with her ailing mom, and that time was very special to the both of them.

Mildred married Anderson Risby in New York City, who preceded her in death and from that union two children were born, Anderson Jr. who also preceded  her in death, and Andrea Risby. Mildred was a graduate of Morris High School, Bronx New York, The City College, New York City, where she received her Bachelors Degree and Master’s Degree from Brooklyn College. Mildred loved her gospel music, but enjoyed listening to music from the 60’s through the 80’s. She called them oldies but goodies, and  stated “they don’t make music like that anymore”.

After the death of her mother, she moved to Augusta, Georgia. Mildred joined the Community Bible Fellowship Church, where she worshipped until her death. She loved all of  the members, especially the children. Mildred called them her family and would do anything for them.
