Adeline Gudger Obituary

Adeline “Addie” Gudger was born on August 30, 1965, to Theodore “Teddy” Branch and the late Mary Lee Gudger in Newark, NJ. At an early age, Addie was baptized at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in East Orange, NJ.
“Addie” was a 1973 graduate of East Orange High School, New Jersey. Upon graduating, she furthered her education at Upsala College, where she earned her associate’s degree in Business Administration, which afforded her the opportunity to land several jobs in her field.
In the early 2000s, “Addie” relocated to Fairfax, SC, and joined Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Terrance Thomas.
She always had a passion for music. As a child, she sang in the children’s choir, under the direction of her mother, Mary Lee Gudger. While attending Nazarene, Addie became a member of the Mass Choir. She was also a devoted member of the Southern Regional Mass Choir, under the direction of Minister Robin Wright, where she was known for “hammering the tamborine”.
“Addie” is preceded in death by her loving mother, the late Mary Lee Gudger. God called “Addie” into eternal rest on October 3, 2019, at 2:15 AM, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family in Varnville, SC.
“Addie” will forever be remembered and cherished by: her loving father, Teddy Branch; daughter, Nikki Gudger (Calvin) Dean; granddaughters, Jazmine Gudger and Asatta Spence; a grandson, Calvin Dean, Jr.; sisters, Cynthia Utterbach and (devoted sister and caregiver) Myra (Rosevelt) Manuel; brothers, Micheal Gudger, Fred Gudger, and Kevin Gudger; loving nieces, including a special great-niece, Morgan McTeer-Flowers; a host of nephews, including a special great-grandnephew, Kelton McTeer; a beloved goddaughter, La’Krista Davis; and cousins and friends, including special childhood friends, Paula Sills and Paulette Fisher.
