Elisha Genell “Gee” Hagood was born on July 25, 1975, in Hampton, South Carolina to James Hagood, Jr., and the late Elaine Grant Hagood. She attended the public schools of Hampton School District One and graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1994. She also attended Denmark Technical College, where she pursued Early Childhood Studies. At an early age, Elisha attended Huspah Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Harmonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully, worked with the youth department, and served on the usher board.
“Gee” will always be remembered for her cooking abilities, keeping the crowd laughing, and taking care of everyone’s children. Elisha loved people, and she loved her family.
On Friday morning, November 15, 2019, God called Elisha from labor to reward at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memory: two loving daughters, Mi’Eisha Jalaina Hagood and A’Layna Alexis Hagood, both of the home; a devoted father, James “Jimmy” Hagood, Jr., of Hampton, South Carolina; two sisters, LaTisha (James) Rodd and Wakisha Mitchell of Varnville, South Carolina; one brother, Franktonio Busby of Varnville, South Carolina; paternal grandfather, Deacon James Wallace “Pete” Hagood, Sr., of Hampton, South Carolina; one loving niece, Marissa Mitchell of Varnville, South Carolina; loving aunts, Loretta (Jimmy) Mixson, Evangelist Verta Thompson, Brender Gordon, and Mary Eleanor (James) Collins, all of Varnville, South Carolina, Deloris (Eddie) Pryor of Brooklyn, New York, Daphne (Richard) Lott of Augusta Georgia, Dianne Bohles of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Patricia (Uton) Anderson of Long Island, New York; one uncle, Jeff Campbell of Sarasota, Florida; special friend, Naquan Grays of Varnville, South Carolina; one goddaughter; one godson; six great-aunts; three great- uncles; 10 godsisters; 10 godbrothers; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
