Obituary
Mr. John Wilson Preacher, Sr., was born on December 4, 1942, in Hampton County to Jack and Bessie Preacher, who both preceded him in death. He passed at the age of 76, on September 14, 2019, at Allendale County Hospital.Early in life, he joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Gifford, South Carolina.
“Bobby”, as everyone called him, was educated in the public schools in Hampton County. He was employed for several years at Gold Kist, were he retired. After retirement, he supervised an Allendale County recycling location until his health began to decline.Bobby spoke his mind and had a no-nonsense approach, but under all of that, he really loved people.
On June 30, 1963, he married the former Hattie Roberts.In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria P. Myers; two sisters, Coral Franklin and Sara Campbell; and four brothers, Cecil Roberts, Edward Jenkins, James Preacher, and Joe Preacher.
Bobby leaves loving memories that will be cherished forever by: four sons, Frankie L. Ginn of Fayeville GA, John W. Jr., Don (Valare) and Kerreem Preacher, all of Columbia; two daughters, Vernice (William) Parker of Columbia, SC, and Penni (Michael) of Statesboro, GA; three brothers, Ben (Kim) Preacher of Detroit MI, Willie (Willie Mae) Preacher of Scotia, Julius (Margie) Preacher of Gifford; one sister, Bessie Mae (George) Willingham of Memphis TN; daughters-in-law, Jannie Rouse, Linda Preacher, and Tameka Cave; sons-in-law, Tony Aldrich and Thomas Myers; 35 grandchildren; 20 great-grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sympathizing friends.
