Joyce R. Brunson

Mrs. Joyce Elane Roberts Brunson was the sixth seed born January 31, 1947, in Allendale County out of the garden of the late Mr. Leroy Roberts, Sr. and the late Mrs. Anna Beatrice Roberts. She was educated in the public schools of Allendale County.

On August 27, 1967, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Rudolph Brunson and unto their union five children were born. She was employed for many years in the garment industry of Allendale and Hampton Counties.

Joyce had a strong faith and belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She joined Nazarene Baptist Church and participated on the Communion Ministry. Later, she became a member of Vision Ministries. where she served as the pastor’s first assistant and the Baptism and Communion Ministry.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by four brothers, Manuel, LeRoy, Bob and Joe Nathan Roberts and one sister, Lena Youmans.

God called her home from labor to rest on March 23, 2019 at the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memories: a husband, Rudolph Brunson; five children, Petula (Murray) Riley, New Ellenton, SC, Venus (Nathaniel) Brooks, Fairfax, SC, Latecka (Carlo) Gantt, Aiken, SC, Trench (LaKesha) Brunson, Charleston, SC, and Ruddie T. (Stephanie) Brunson, Lexington, SC; two sisters, Janie (James) Wallace, Barnwell, SC, and Janie (Tony) Loadholt, Huntsville, AL; and one brother, Reynold Roberts, NY; mother-in-law, Alice Brunson; three sisters-in-law, Betty (Henry) Council, Latrell (Larry) Forrester, and Mary Roberts; one brother-in-law, Joshua (Willa) Brunson; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church members and friends.
