Mary Jane Bethea

Mary Jane was born the daughter of the late Mr. Willie and the late Mrs. Deloris Brooker Gooding on November 28, 1957, in Allendale County, South Carolina. At an early age, she joined Gillette Baptist Church and later united with Sweet Bethel CME Church in the St. Mark community of Allendale County, South Carolina.
Mary Jane was a 1976 graduate of Allendale Fairfax High School in Allendale, South Carolina. She later furthered her education at Denmark Technical College in Denmark, South Carolina. Mary Jane served as a Teacher’s Aide for the Allendale County Public School System for many years.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mr. Willie and Mrs. Deloris Gooding; three brothers, Levern Gooding, Vonceil Brooker, and Alton Gooding; and a grandson, Michael Jaqueze Bethea.Mary Jane entered into rest on September 30, 2019.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: three children, Michael Bethea of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Lisa Bethea and Potoshia Bethea, both of Allendale, South Carolina; two goddaughters, whom she called her own, Karen Holmes Allendale and Loretta Roberts of Fairfax, South Carolina; four brothers, Edward Gooding Greer of South Carolina, Lankward Gooding, Lindbergh Gooding, and James Gooding; sister, Pastor Darnell Moore of Allendale, South Carolina; great-aunt, Sarah Brooker, also of Allendale, South Carolina; two aunts, Leola (Johnnie Lee) Jenkins of Allendale, South Carolina, and Elnora Richardson of Garrisburg, North Carolina; sister- in-law, Majorie Brooker of Fairfax, South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, including two special nieces, Crystal Moore and Ramona Sabb; her companion, Jessie Youmans of Allendale, South Carolina; and a host of nephews, cousins, and friends, including five special friends, Adell Myers, Shirley Jenkins, Mary Moultrie, Gloria Titus, and Alice Patterson.
