Brother Melvin Morgan, son of the late Mr. Evans “Dock” Morgan and the late Mrs. Polly Coath Morgan, was born on January 22, 1943, in Varnville, SC. He was a graduate of the Former North District Training School and furthered his studies at Aiken Technical College and DeVry Institute of Technology. He was a ten year veteran of the United States Army, a boiler operator, and an iron worker before he became disabled.
He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses the summer of 2000 in Florence, SC.
He passed away at his residence in Fort Mill, SC, on July 15, 2019. Melvin was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Mr. Willie Evans “Sonny” Morgan; his eldest sibling, Mrs. Annie Lydia Mole; and sisters, Ms. Geneva Morgan and Mrs. Janie Louise Priester.
Brother Morgan is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Jessie S. Morgan; one brother, Harold T. Morgan of the Bronx, NY; one daughter, Ms. Wanda E. Morgan of Hampton, SC; one son, Mr. Jason B. (Nancy) Morgan of Charlotte, NC; a special niece, Mrs. Polly (Marshall) Glover of Varnville, SC; grandchildren, TaShara “Nikki” Morgan, Christopher Johnson, Naïma Morgan, and Makayla Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Zyshawn Morgan and TaSharee Morgan; four nephews; five nieces; and countless relatives and friends.
