Albertha Hay Singletary was born December 7, 1930, to the late James and Lula Miley Hay. She received her education in the public schools of Hampton County and became a member of Cherry Grove at a young age.
In 1960, she married to the late Clarence Singletary, Jr. (who affectionately reared her two children as his own).She was employed by Hampton General Hospital for numerous years. Later, in life, she became employed for Mrs. Mary Lou Hazel, Penny and Shirley Robinson, and Mrs. Linda Sue.
She is preceded in death by her husband; son, James Hay; brother, Eugene Hay; and two sisters, Fanny. and Susie Hay.
Our Heavenly Father called her home to rest August 1.2019 at the Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro,S.C.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: one daughter, Jannie Hay Moore of Hampton, South Carolina; three sisters in law, Theresa Singletary of Augusta, Georgia; Shirl Singletary and Mary Francis Hay of Hampton, South Carolina; three brothers whom she reared, Sammy, Billy, and Edward Hazel ; six grandchildren, Gail and Curtis Green, Susie Hay; of Hampton, South Carolina; Juanita Moore, Christina Moore, Otis (Shannon) Williams-Moore; of Atlanta, Georgia; Tamika (James) Eady, Jr. of Sumter, South Carolina. Eighteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandson, Master Devontae Green ; A host of nieces and nephews; two devoted friends, Cathy Ellis and Ronnie Mae Capers cousins including one devoted cousin, Janice Miley.
