Mother Virie Black Dunbar, a daughter of the late Walter and Geneva Black, was born in Hampton County, April 15, 1942. She attended the Public School in Hampton County. At an early age she dedicated her life to Christ and joined the Friendship United Methodist Church, where she served as a faithful member of the Church and Gospel Choir. Attending Church and Bible study was her passion. Her special hobbies included: knitting, ceramics, and sewing. Virie was also a certified Notary and a well-known inspiration to the community.
“And the things that hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
II Timothy 2:2
She was married to the late Mr. Ionious Dunbar to that union was born two sons.
Mother Virie entered into eternal rest at the Colleton Medical Center Hospital, Walterboro, SC, October 24, 2019, 01:00 am.
She leaves to lament: her loving sons, Mr. Robert Vincent Dunbar (Catherine), Varnville SC and Mr. Ray Vernon Dunbar, Varnville, S.C. Two sisters: Ms. Maggie E. Lawton, Ms. Clara L. Black, Varnville, SC. Two brothers, Mr. James F. Black (Shirley) and Mr. Clarence O. Black, Hampton, SC. One daughter, Mrs. Debbie Brown (Michael), Varnville, SC, three grandchildren Mr. Tyanthony Dunbar (Shauntae), Bowman, SC; Ms. Ebony Q. Williams, Columbia, SC; Mr. Michael Brown, Jr, Bluffton, SC. A host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends; Special her heart; caregiver Linda Cooler and Pet Cat Morris
