Alberta Eady Obituary

Alberta Isabella Eady was born on December 29, 1952,
in Allendale County, South Carolina to the late Willie
and Lillie Mae Eady. She departed this life on April 30,
2022 (her father’s birthday) at Hampton Regional
Medical Center in Varnville, SC.
As a young child, Bert (as she was affectionately called)
lived with her grandparents John and Laura Bell Eady.
After her grandmother died in the early sixties, she went
to live with her aunt and uncle, Frank and Pauline Lee.
Bert joined Miller Swamp Missionary Baptist Church
at an early age. She received her education in the public
schools of Allendale County, graduating from C.V. Bing
Training School in 1970.
After high school, Bert moved to Newark, New Jersey
to live with her aunt and uncle, Harry and Geraldine
Simmons. While in Newark, she worked for several
years as a food server in the cafeteria at the University
of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).
After some time, Bert met her soulmate, the late Philbert
Pierre Thomas (died July 21, 2009). They had two
children, Christina and Philbert.

In the early nineties, Bert returned to Fairfax with her
children. She made a loving home and raised her
children to the best of her ability. She loved to cook, read
the Bible, and listen to music. During her life’s journey
she was challenged with many health issues and
struggles, but through it all she trusted in God. One thing
held true… she loved and praised her children and was
very devoted to them. She kept them reading and learning.

f strength. Bert reminded them that strength in life is
tough, but the ability to learn was key.
Bert was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and
Lillie Mae Eady; her uncle, Tom Eady, her sister-cousin,
Lucille Brooks; and her oldest sister Patricia Ann Eady
Williams.
She leaves behind a beloved family: her two children;
Christine Rose “Tiny” and Philbert Pierre Eady of
Fairfax, SC; two grandchildren, Lovea La’Shay
Goodwin and Evelyn (Shawntae) Eady; five sisters,
