Annette Givens Obituary

We have gathered in the spirit of the Lord to bid our final farewell to an endearing wife, mother, and grandmother, a loving sister and an amazing aunt, who has joined that innumerable caravan which moves to that mysterious realm. The eternity of her love reaches beyond time. Our family chain has been broken again, but Annette leaves behind memories that will linger in our mind and hearts forever.
Annette Hicks Givens was born on January 25, 1961, to the late Johnny and Lucille Green Hicks in Hampton, Co., SC. She attended the local public schools of Hampton, SC. Upon graduating from Wade Hampton with the class of 1979, Annette furthered her studies at Brymont College in Atlanta, GA, where she received her Associate’s degree in Medical Billing and Coding.
At an early age, she joined Bethlehem Baptist Church, Early Branch, SC. Annette was member of Glad Tidings, Chapter No. 48 OES, and a dutiful member of the Sons and Daughters of the Job. Annette loved sharing her knowledge, wit, and spirituality with all who came in contact with her.
Annette was joined in Holy Matrimony to Bobby Givens on September 3, 1983. This union was blessed with four children, one of whom preceded her in death, Mr. Quintin Shaw. She was employed and later retired from Scotsman Ice Systems, Fairfax, South Carolina. Annette had an unending passion in caring for the elderly. She was later employed by nursing homes in Hilton Head, Beaufort, and Ridgeland, South Carolina.
She loved to eat crabs, and was well known for her famous five course Sunday meals. Annette would often serenade us even when the words didn’t match the song. Her faith never wavered and would always called on“God give to give her strength” during her illness.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and son. On April 11, 2021 at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital , Beaufort SC, God called our angel home to rest in in him.
