Mrs. Betty Jean Curry Jones, daughter of the late Willie Curry and Mary Givens Curry, was born February 22, 1951, in Hampton, SC.
As a child, Betty and her siblings attended Sunday School at Huspah Baptist Church. She later joined Bethlehem Baptist Church of Hampton, SC. In her latter years, she worshipped at Blunt Chapel C.M.E. Church of Varnville, SC.
She was a proud graduate of the North District Training School, Class of 1968. In 1971, she married James Jones, the love of her life and her boyfriend since the 7th grade. This union was blessed with two children, Greg and Melinda, a beautiful granddaughter Cortney, and her pride and joy and protégé, Harmony, her private nurse.
Betty worked for many years as a clerk for the law offices of Speights and Solomon.
Betty had a beautiful soul and truly loved her family. She was a nurturer by nature and will be truly missed by her family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Curry and Mary Givens Curry; brothers, Willie Burn Curry and Eugene Curry; and her sister, Peggy Ann Curry. Betty was called home to be with the Lord and to join her family in heaven on July 5, 2019.

Jones of Atlanta, GA, Cecilia (Patrick) McDonnell of Varnville, SC, and Pamela Jones of Bluffton, SC; brothers-in-law, John Edward Jones of Brooklyn, NY, and Lee Smith of Hampton, SC; aunts, Emma Jean Smith of Hampton, SC, Ellen Curry of Durham, NC, Ruby Nell (Ray) Roland of Bronx, NY, and Lillie Bingham of Brooklyn, NY; uncle, Adam (Margaret) Major of Varnville, SC; and a host of nieces, including a special niece, India Curry, nephews, cousins and friends.
