BETTY JEAN ROBERTS BADGER was born November 28, 1948, in Allendale County, South Carolina, to the late Ernestine Roberts, Sr., and Hattie Baxter Roberts. She attended the public schools of Allendale County Public Schools. At an early age, she joined the Near River Baptist Church, and later the Pentecostal Church of God in Allendale, SC. Sis. Betty Jean was employed with Corbett Plywood in Fairfax, SC, and later retired from Hilton Head Medical Center in Hilton Head, SC. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mack Badger June 19, 1995. She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Angie Roberts; four sisters, Hattie Mae Preacher, Mamie Manuel, Leotha Carter, and Peggy Singleton; and two brothers, Conyus “Randy” Johnson, Sr., and Ernestine Roberts, Jr.
On Thursday, May 6, 2021, Betty made her peaceful transition at the Allendale County Hospital, Fairfax, South Carolina.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories:a loving and devoted husband of 25 years, Mack Badger, two loving and devoted daughters, Karen “Kym” Roberts of Wilmington, NC, and Latoya (James) Moore of North Augusta, SC; five grandchildren, Jenouri Roberts, Jeniqua Roberts, Jevonne Bradley, and Jevaren Bradley, all of Wilmington, NC, and JaQuavian Kelley of North Augusta, SC; one step-daughter, Evangelee Holmes of Fairfax, SC; one step-son, Paul Holmes of Fairfax, SC; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carrie Lee Murdaugh of Fairfax, SC, Toni (Willie) Mixson of Fairfax, SC, and Lavon Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Calvin (Rebecca) Roberts of Columbia, SC; two sister-in-laws, Shirley Badger of Fairfax, SC, and Eva Mae Elmore of Allendale, SC; 4 brothers-in-law: Bennie Manuel, Willie Badger, Arthur (Beulah) Badger all of Fairfax, SC, and Johnnie (Dorothy) Badger, all of Miami, FL; one uncle, Walter Gregory of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, “the apples of her eyes,” Jahylen Riley, Brayden Johnson, and Thomas Roberts; and a host of other cousins and friends.
