Mr. Johnnie Moore, Sr., was born in Hampton County, South Carolina, November 5, 1934, to the late Mr. Jerry Moore and the late Mrs. Ethel (Frazier) Moore. At an early age, he joined Antioch Christian Church in Varnville, South Carolina. Mr. Johnnie Moore attended the public schools of Hampton County. On April 17, 1954, he married the love of his life, Sarah Louise Johnson Moore, and this union was blessed with eight children. He was a former employee of Westinghouse Electric Corporation for over 25 years. He prided himself as a provider for his family and his community. Johnnie loved his garden, creating fond memories with his children and grandchildren, and spending memorable moments with his best friend and brother, Isaiah Moore. In 1998, Johnnie was ordained as a Deacon with the Antioch Christian Church. He also loved to fellowship with and played a vital role in the support of his Antioch Church family. Johnnie has no doubt been the pillar of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Jerry Moore and Mrs. Ethel Frazier Moore; his wife, Sarah Johnson Moore; and three children, Julie Moore Alston, Leevie Moore, and Katha Jean Moore Green. On Friday, July 2, 2021, he made his peaceful transition at the Savannah Memorial Hospital, Savannah, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his surviving children, Johnnie (Saidell) Moore, Sr., of Islandton, SC, Barbara Ann Moore Johnson, of Statesboro, GA, Patricia Ann (Gerald) Moore Gordon, of Hampton, SC, Frankie Lee Moore, Sr., of Hampton, SC, Consuela Josette Moore, of Philadelphia, PA, and Domonique Lorente Moore, of Hampton, SC; three siblings, Isaiah (Lorraine) Moore, of Hampton, SC, Judy (David) Moore Simmons, of Varnville, SC, and Ernest (Larcena) Moore, of Varnville, SC; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Johnson Williams, of Hampton, SC, Callie Lou Kearse Johnson, of Fairfax, SC, Elease Johnson Glover, of Varnville, SC, and Mary Williams Johnson, of Brunson, SC; son-in-law, Benjamin Green, Sr., of Hampton, SC; 30 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and caring friends.
