Dennis was born May 4, 1944, in Bronx, New York, to the late Richard Lester and Bertha Smith Chapman. He was the middle child of three.
Dennis was married to his dear wife, Gloria Delores Miley Chapman, for 52 years. Before they relocated to Hampton, SC, from Massapequa, NY, Dennis retired after 31 years of service as a truck driver for Verizon Phone Company.
Dennis loved to watch his favorite football team, the New York Giants, and his favorite basketball team, the New York Knicks, as well as any of the judge shows, like “Judge Judy” and “Judge Mathis”. When anyone asked Dennis how he was doing, his reply was always “fine and dandy”, with a smile!
Dennis was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witness at the district convention in Long Island (Uniondale), New York on June 12, 1983. He served as a Ministerial Servant starting in 2006, and became a regular pioneer (full time servant) in 2009. He also was a volunteer minister at the Allendale Correctional Institution for many years. Dennis spent a lot of his time talking about and studying the Bible with many people in the area. Dennis was a kind and gentle person that was loved by those he met in the ministry, or just in person.
