Elder Queenesther Pollins Bowers Singleton was born on April 14, 1934, to the late Edward
Pollins and Mrs. Docia Davis Pollins in Hampton County, South Carolina. She received her
education in the public schools in New York.
Upon returning to South Carolina, she met and married the late Mr. Qullie Miles Bowers.
This union was blessed with two children, James and Mary.
Elder Singleton accepted Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop B. J. Sanders, where
she received her ministerial license. She would later be ordained as an Elder by the MSCHA
organization. Her first charge as Pastor was with Saint John Holy Church in Nixville,
South Carolina. Being led by God, Elder Singleton sojourned to Brunson, South Carolina,
where she would establish Mount Carmel Holy Church. Elder Singleton led her flock of
parishioners for over 46 years until her demise.
Elder Singleton was an avid fisherman. She and her husband would frequent the Cumbee
River in their boat.
Touching lives everywhere, she established The Prison Ministry, the Annual Thanksgiving
Senior Day Dinner, and the Food Bank. She worked faithfully until the Lord called her
home to Glory!!
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. Quillie Miles Bowers, and son, James
Bowers. She was called home to rest on March 30, 2022.
Precious memories will be cherished by her husband of 35 years, Elder Jessie Lee Singleton;
daughter, Evangelist Mary Bowers McKever of Jacksonville, Florida; stepchildren, Lillie
Jackson and Jessie Singleton, Jr., both of Boston, Massachusetts; a host of grandchildren
and great-grandchildren; sister, Eula Bowers of Hampton, South Carolina; nephews, nieces,
godchildren, other relatives, and caring friends. Psalm 116:15
