Ms. Flossie M. Rouse was born September 25, 1947. She was the seventh girl and eleventh child of the late James and Icerlene Rouse and often referred to herself as “Seven Eleven.”
Flossie attended and received her spiritual guidance from both St. James Missionary Baptist Church and Trinity C.M.E. Church. She joined Trinity C.M.E. Church at an early age. Later in life, she joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
She received her education through the Allendale County Public School System, where she graduated from Fairfax Training School in Fairfax SC.
Flossie held various jobs and participated in civic activities throughout her life. She worked at Kenlon in Allendale, SC and other companies in nearby towns. She was Secretary for the local chapter of the NAACP in the mid to late 1960’s. Flossie officially retired from the Allendale County School System as a Professional Bus Operator on November 21, 2014 after 19 + years of service transporting children to and from school, on educational trips throughout the State, and to various sporting activities. She was one of the most beloved school bus drivers in the county.
Flossie was an avid outdoors person who loved gardening, hunting, fishing and just enjoying life. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
