Sister Joyce Marie Roberts was born on February 7, 1949 in Brunson, South Carolina, to the late Mrs. Rosa Lee Wright Roberts. On Saturday, August 22, 2020, Joyce passed away, peace- fully at her home. At an early age, she united with the Jackson Branch Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities; church choir member, Secretary of the Pastor’s Aide Board, the Missionary Society and the Women’s Ministry (Macedonia Baptist Church).She was married to Robert Lee Frederick and to this union, five children were born.
Joyce enjoyed employment positions with the Special Needs Disability Board as a M.R. Specialist and at Brunson Elementary School as a Teacher’s Aide. Sister Roberts also served as a Group Leader for Camp Wildwood. Sister Roberts had a great love for the elderly. She was also dedicated to home healthcare.
Joyce loved fellowshipping with friends and family; and enjoyed making her delicious lemon bars and lemon meringue pies.
Sister Roberts is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Darlene Roberts and a brother, Izell Roberts.
Joyce leaves to cherish fond memories: her loving children, three daughters, Wanda F. Flippen of Greenville, SC, Denise (Antonio) Ardoin and Joyce L. Frederick, both of Columbia, SC; two sons, Robert Lee Frederick, Jr of Columbia, SC, and SFC Larinz M. (Samantha) Frederick, of VA; three brothers, Deacon Marion (Shirley) Roberts of Brunson, SC, James Arthur (Linda) Roberts of Blackville, SC and Morris Roberts of Lexington, SC; two sisters, Beverly (Joseph) Jenkins of Varnville, SC and Carol Roberts of Brunson, SC; one uncle, Lewis (Beverly) Wright of Lakeland, FL;a devoted companion, Haiston Greene of Varnville, SC; one aunt, Ethel Lee Ellis of Statesboro, GA; two god-sisters, Bobbie Taylor of Sycamore, SC and Minister Jennie Mae Youmans of Brunson, SC; four devoted cousins, Patrick Bowers, Patricia Pinckney, Sharon Forrester and Terry Wright; fifteen grandchildren and five great-grands; and a host of nieces nephews, relatives and friends
