Leola Lee (Brooker) Jenkins, 68, was born December 27, 1951, to the late Herbert and Annie Lee of Charleston County, South Carolina. Leola was lovingly reared by her aunt
and uncle, Lewis and Mary Brooker, in their home from the time of her birth until she reached adulthood. The Brookers made sure Leola was trained in the way should go (Proverbs 22:6), which led her to accept Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and join the Sweet Bethel CME Church in the St. Mark Community of Allendale County, SC. In 1972, she was united in holy matrimony to Johnnie L, Jenkins, and later joined Simpson United Methodist Church in Allendale with him. She served on the Usher Board, where she was able to use her hospitable personality to warmly greet members and visitors, and respond to their needs during worship services. Leola attended the public schools in Allendale County, SC and graduated in 1971 from Allendale Fairfax High School, Fairfax, SC. She retired from Allendale County School District in June 2017, following 27 years of employment.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Victoria Brooker Lewis, and brothers, Herbert Lee Brooker and Lee Earnest Duke. Fulfilling His will and relieving her of suffering on this earth, God called Leola to eternal rest on the morning of Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Pruitt Health in Savannah, Georgia.
Leola leaves to cherish very fond memories: her husband of 49 years, Johnnie L. Jenkins, of Allendale, SC; her only daughter, Giashia (Joseph) Bennett, of Savannah, GA; two sisters, Elnora Lee Richardson, of Garysburg, NC and Ruby Hicks, of Strousburg, PA; sister-in-law, Barbara (Larry) Bradley, of Savannah, GA; two brothers-in-law, James (Evelyn) Jenkins, of Allendale, SC, and Willie James (Jackie) Outing, of Gifford, SC; two loving granddaughters, Jalisay and Janiya Bennett, both of Savannah, GA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
