Leroy Terry Obituary

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”Leroy “Lucky” Terry, the eldest son of Edward and the late Virginia Cole Terry, was born in Elizabeth, NJ on November, 21, 1967.  He answered the Master’s call on Monday, July 25, at the Regional Medical Center in Hampton, SC.“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”Leroy attended the Miley Church of God and later in Varnville, SC where he was baptized.He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”Leroy grew up and attended the public schools of Hampton and was a member of the Class of 1989.  He graduated from Will Lou Gray School in Columbia, SC.  In high school he excelled in basketball and Track and Field.  He attended Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC and was also skilled in basketball and Track and Field.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and staff they comfort me.”Leroy worked as a correctional officer at ACI in Allendale County.  He then found his love, his dream job- driving truck.  He was given the nickname “Midnight” among the trucking circle.  He was currently employed with Smith Logging Company in Grays, SC.“Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”Besides trucking, Leroy loved spending time with his family, shooting pool, and grilling. One of his favorite pasttimes was studying the Word of God.Leroy was predeceased by his mother, Virginia C. Terry; a brother, Carlos R. Terry; grandparents, Evelyn Behlin, John W. (Sr.) and Lou Alma  Eady Terry; Uncles, Brian Behlin, and John W. Terry, Jr.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.He leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving son, Deondre T. Terry, Dallas, TX; a stepdaughter, Kiara Williams, San Diego, CA; a devoted father, Edward Terry, Varnville, SC; two brothers, Edward C. Terry, Varnville, SC, Rio (Yvette) Jones, Hampton, SC; two sisters, Sherese D. Terry and Cheryl Terry, both of Varnville, SC; two special blessings, Nikki and ErinMoore; a dear devoted friend, Willie mae Gadson, Gifford, SC; three uncles, James (Lillian) Murdaugh, Hampton,SC,  Kevin Behlin, Elizabeth, NJ, Eugene (Saundra) Terry, Brooklyn, NY;four aunts, Darlene (Eric) Wright, Elizabeth, NJ, Betsy (Nate) Mays, Hampton, SC, Pamela W. Terry, Varnville, SC, and Daisy B. (Robert) Crump, Columbia, SC; five great-uncles; seven great-aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many caring friends.
