Marilyn Floyd Obituary

Sister Marilyn Floyd was born on March 10, 1943, in Hampton County, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Jeffery Williams, Sr., and Mrs. Helen Lee Lightsey Williams. She was educated in the Hampton County public school system.

As it was often phrased “a dog is a man’s best friend” and this applied to our mother and sister, Marilyn. She had a passion for dogs; where everyone’s dog, was her dog.

Marilyn spent most of her adult life in Walterboro, South Carolina. She was married to the late Mr. James “Slim” Floyd and to this union they were blessed with two children, Timothy and Jackie. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Johnny Williams, Dwight Williams and Jeffery Williams, Jr.

Marilyn gained her wings after battling many lengthy illnesses. God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be. He wrapped her in his loving arms on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at the Hampton Regional Medical Center in Varnville, South Carolina and whispered, come to me.

Take your rest our dear Marilyn. We Love You, but God Loves You Best.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: three children, Janice Williams of Hampton, South Carolina, Tim Floyd and Jackie Floyd, both of Walterboro, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; six sisters, Martha Smith, Barbara Williams, Lovenia Williams, Betty Jean Grant, all of Hampton, South Carolina, Louise (Harry) Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina and Delores (Carnell) Young of Varnville, South Carolina; one brother, Jerome (Charlene) Williams of Roosevelt, New York; one uncle, Thomas Williams and an aunt, Mary Battle, both of Columbia, South Carolina, a host of sisters and brothers-in-laws, loving nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
