Sadie Mae Walker, our precious and loving mother was born December 23, 1924 to the late John E. and Dether Lee Newton. She obtained her education in the Hampton County public school system and was married to the late Mr. David Walker, Sr. At an early age, Mother Walker joined the St. John Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health began to decline.
Mother Walker could be found reading the bible daily and her children often witness her kneeling in prayer. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and a great -grandson, Sabian McQuire.
Our heavenly Father called her from labor to reward on February 5, 2023, at her residence.
Mother Walker leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sons, David Walker, Jr. and Vincent E. Walker (Tracee); six daughters, Betty Walker, Inez Walker, Shirley W. Black (James), Rosa L. Walker, Sadie P. Moore (Willard) and Bernice Walker; two adopted daughters, Margaret Gillespie and Frances Johnson (John); loving daughter-in-law, Shirley L. Walker; five sisters-in-law, Emma Lee Hines, Betty Mitchell, Hattie Walker, Celia Ann Walker, and Delia Walker; brother-in-law, Marion L. Cohen; ten grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces. nephews, cousins and friends including five devoted family friends, David Buckner, Joseph Buckner, Versa Dunbar, Matthew Williams and Nathaniel Johnson.
