Ray Dunbar Obituary

Ray Vernon Dunbar was born on July 27, 1961, in Varnville, South Carolina to the late Ionious and Virie Black Dunbar. He departed this life on Sunday, January 18, 2021 at Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.

At an early age, Ray became a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. He was educated in the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina. Ray graduated from  Wade Hampton High School, “Class of 1980”, and was an inspirational drum major in the High School Marching Band.

He was a devoted employee at Le Creuset, Early Branch, SC, Fred’s, Varnville, SC, Scotsman, Fairfax, SC and Hampton Machinery & Tools, Hampton, SC. Those who knew Ray experienced a fun, loving, caring, kind, humble and a generous man who possessed  a comedian like persona, a contagious smile and cared deeply for people.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: one brother, Robert Vincent (Catherine) Dunbar; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
