Mrs. Rebecca Butts was born the daughter of Ellis (Marie)Young, Sr., and the late Magalene McClay Badger in Allendale County, South Carolina, on April 3, 1949. At an early age, she received her education at and ultimately graduated from the Fairfax Training School in Fairfax, South Carolina. Seeking God’s direction and guidance at an early age, she joined the Saint James Baptist Church in Luray, South Carolina, where she served as church secretary. Rebecca was a watch member of the Macedonia C.M.E. Church, Allendale, South Carolina.Rebecca relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and later returned to South Carolina in 1989.
She furthered her studies at Denmark Technical College where she received an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Rebecca’s love for children afforded her the opportunity to become a lab technician for the Allendale County public school system. She would later retire after rendering over 20 years of dedicated service. Rebecca, “Beck” as she was affectionally called, was famous for her mouth-watering jelly stack cakes and scrumptious pies. She possessed a loving and giving spirt which will forever be embedded in the hearts of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Magalene McClay Badger, daughter, Sharon Butts-Simmons and four brothers,James McClay, Leroy Badger, Larry Badger, and Ellis Young, Jr. On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, surrounded at her residence by her daughter and son-in-law.
Rebecca made her peaceful transition to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her mother, Magalene McClay Badger, and four brothers, James McClay, Leroy Badger, Larry Badger, and Ellis Young, Jr.
Cherishing her beautiful memory: a loving father, Ellis (Marie)Young, Sr., of Cocoa, Florida; a loving and devoted daughter, Joyce Elaine (Timothy) Myers, Sr., of the home; three sons, Antonio Frazier of Columbia, South Carolina, Marvin Frazier of Allendale, South Carolina, and Wallace (Mimi) Frazier of Rincon, Georgia;15 grandchildren; including five reared in the home, Savion Butts, Devonte (Kiana) Moore of Columbia, South Carolina, DeAvion Simmons, Jermaine Simmons, Jr., Timothy Myers, Jr., Duke Frazier, of Columbia, South Carolina; a loving and devoted companion of 30 years, Mr. Willie Frazier of Allendale, South Carolina; five sisters, Linda (Jerry) Roberts of Sylvania, Georgia, Victoria (Richard) Hutchinson of Estill, South Carolina, Richa Deen Thompson and Yolanda (Travoris) Allen, both of Valrico,Florida, and Gloria Stanley of Varnville, South Carolina; four brothers, Ulysee Badger and William Badger, both of Allendale, South Carolina, Ronald Henry of Vero Beach, Florida, and Jefford Lee Blake of Savannah, Georgia; sister-in-law, Diane Badger of North Carolina; aunt, Marie McClay of Estill, South Carolina; God’s special blessings, Jennifer Cheely and Antwan Gill; a devoted cousin, Mr. Carl Young of Fairfax, South Carolina; special friends, special friends, Annette Flowers, Amanda Pressiegill, O.B. Sabb, Mamie Lou Morrell, and Bettie Polite; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
