Willie Rufus CapeRs, Jr, affectionally known as “Rufus,” was born December 16, 1950, to the late Willie Rufus Capers, Sr., and Margaret Terry Capers of Early Branch, SC. He joined the Wilkinson Baptist Church, Early Branch South Carolina, and later moved his membership to Greater Harvest COGIC in Early Branch, SC. Rufus received his education in public school in Hampton County.
Rufus entered into holy matrimony to Deloris White on April 8, 1972, and to this union, three sons were born. A son preceded him in death, Rufus Lateef Capers.
Rufus was a mechanic by trade and a former employee of Shaw Logging.
On Saturday, August 8, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his loving family, he entered into eternal rest.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: a loving wife of 48 years, Deloris White Capers; two sons, Aubrey (Ashley) Capers of Greenville, SC, and Paul Capers of Charleston, SC; mother- in-law, Emma Wright of Hampton, SC.; daughter-in-law, Sharon Capers; seven grandchildren, Recaridell Capers, Tushmbay Jackson, Shadiamond, Aubreyana, Aubrey, Arye, and Rufus Capers, Jr.; step-granddaughter, Quaderia Priester; five great-grandchildren, Conner, Carson, Karter, Paisleigh, and Devonta, Jr.; five sisters, Louise Reid, and Margarette (Willie) Strobhart both of Cummings, SC, Iva Della (Tony) Moultrie of Kissimmee, FL, Carrie Major of St Helena Island, SC, and Willa Mae (Vander) Williams of Capital Heights, MD; five brothers, CW (Ada) Capers of Varnville, SC, Melvin Capers, and Irvin (Velma) Capers both of Cummings, SC, and Fredrick Capers, and Derrick (Loretta) Capers both of Early Branch, SC; step-mother-in- law, Emma Smith of Hampton, SC; goddaughter, Adrian Orr; godson, Richard Dodson, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Bobby (Annette) Givens, Arthur (Natashia) Smith, Douglas (Delhia) Smith, Scottie (Angela) Smith, Hector Rakes, Michael (Vicky) Smith, Andrew Reid, and John (Connie) White; sisters-in- law, Halimah (Hasan) Muwakkil, Ann (Michael) Griffith, Kezia Fennell, Linda Givens, Patsy (Nathaniel) Smith, Gwen Smith, Vanessa (Greg) Greene, Jennie Lee (Moses)Young, Juanita Davis, FL; special friend and buddy, Shaqri Fred Whitne; four uncles; six aunts; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sympathizing friend
