Thomasena Deloris Grant Priester was born February 21,1944 to the late John Calvin and Alma Grant in Fairfax, South Carolina. Thomasena grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She became a member of Cherry Grove Christian Church. “Tommie” as she was affectionally called, attended public school in Fairfax, South Carolina and later retired from the Allendale County School system.In 1963, Thomasena married the late Izell Ballie Priester. Out of their union five children were born. She was a mother to more than we could count. Later during this union, she became a member of the Miller Swamp Baptist Church and joined the Miller Swamp Gospel Choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Izell and sister, Pauline Grant.
On Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 6:15 a. m., Thomasena answered the Master’s call from “Labor to Reward” at her home surrounded by her family.
She leaves to cherish her memories: five children, Salisa Lofton of the home, Melissa Priester, Grayson, GA, Anthony (Sylvia) Priester, Orlando (Patricia) Priester, all of Fairfax, SC and Rolando (Jennifer) Priester, Bryon, GA; one brother, Codosia (Mary) Grant, Cameron, NC; four sisters, Ernestine Brown, Fairfax, SC, Kathleen Wood, Amityville, NY, Jestine Grant, Bronx, NY, and Emma Smalls, Fairfax, SC; two sisters-in-laws, Elizabeth Priester and Mozell Priester; two brothers-in-laws, Rudolph Grant and Enos Priester Jr. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sympathizing friends. A loving caregiver and daughter-in-law, Sylvia Priester.
