Yonette Edwards Obituary

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. Psalms 62:1-2

Yonette H. Edwards, age 65, was born on September 3, 1955, in Allendale, SC to her parents, the late Mary Inez Harvey and Pete Starks and reared by her stepmother, Rosa Starks in Brunson, SC.

Yonette was affectionally called “Yonnie” by her family and “GG” by her great-grandchildren. She attended public schools in Hampton County. Yonette was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed  sewing, drawing and had a passion for driving eighteen-wheelers, like her big brother, Punchy. Yonette would often share stories of her travels with family.

Yonette was the family's historian. If you ever came  into contact with her, she would leave a lasting impression upon you.Yonette never met a stranger, and would often converse about life's experiences. She lived life to the fullest and on her terms. Yonette had a deep and personal relationship with the Lord. She loved speaking on his grace towards her and sharing his word.

She was called from labor to rest, surrounded by her children on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Colleton Medical Center in South Carolina. Like the fighter she was, she wrestled with leaving her earthly home to transition to her heavenly one.

Yonette is preceded in death by her loving parents, Mary Inez Harvey and Pete Starks, sister, Ida Mae Willis, brother, Pete Harvey Junior, stepmother, Rosa Starks.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Ramona T. Dobson of Beaufort, SC, Tiffany (McKenzie) Williams of Concord, NC and Patrice Dobson of Salisbury, NC; son, Akeem Hosendove of Brunson, SC, ten grandchildren: Prince, Christian, Shai-Yonna, Ineshia, Sierra, Keyonna, Sonterria, Malachi, Sean, and Kendrick, six great-grandchildren: Londyn, Messiah, Josiah, Rayne, Nolan, and Kensley; a loving sister, Phyllis Deloach of Fairfax, SC; a devoted sister-in-law,Elaine Harvey of Hampton, SC; two goddaughters, Lashawn Ellison of Queens, New York and Syreeta Singleton of Wilmington, NC; a very special niece, Natalya Deloach of Orangeburg, SC; a special nephew, Carlester Willis of Jupiter, Fla., a devoted friend, Armatine Williams of Brunson, SC,other relatives and friends.
